Bring your opinions and hot takes: Contrarian Boston to host a live chat tomorrow/Wednesday on the challenges facing the Democratic Party in the wake of a stunning rebuke by voters
Worried about what’s happening with the Democratic Party? Have some ideas on how to fix it?
Contrarian Boston will host a live chat from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday for paid subscribers.
We’ll discuss the challenges facing Democrats and how the purported party of the people has become so out of touch with mainstream views on everything from the cost of living to social issues.
And we’ll also look at whether the Bay State’s all-Democratic congressional delegation is capable of leading the party out of the political wilderness - or is instead part of the problem.
Join us at Substack Chat and look forward to seeing you there.
Good points. The Democrats have focused almost exclusively on expanding access to health care, education, housing, you name it, with little seeming interest in finding ways to rein in the cost of these big ticket items for middle class families.
I have a friend who has a saying, "If you have a problem that can be solved by writing out a check it is not a problem." Another friend critical of government says, "The problem with government is that it is always easier to spend other peoples money rather than your own" The problem with the Democratic Party is that they have never seen a problem that can't be solved by spending other people"s money. Originally the party of the working middle class, hard working middle class people are carrying a disproportion of the tax burden to cure the problems of low and low-moderate income people. The well intended problem solving problems facing the middle class has resulted in the moderate income earners that were the core of the Democratic part are abandoning the party in self defense.
